Heart Valve / Venous Valve Fatigue Tester

From our extensive background in bio-fluid mechanics and evaluation, BDC Laboratories has developed the next generation heart valve and venous valve durability test system with BDC’s Statys comprehensive control monitoring software. In contrast to other valve durability systems, the Model VDT-3100 can be programmed for optimal loading conditions with complete control of the excitation waveform, minimizing pressure spikes (dp/dt) across the valve at the point of closure.

Our equipment has been designed to evaluate both heart valves and venous valves at accelerated frequencies with optimum fluid dynamics for a true evaluation of the test sample. Additional capabilities include continuous monitoring of all system parameters, with alarm capabilities on each test parameter, to immediately halt the system when a predefined event condition occurs. High speed imaging of the test samples can be performed either from the aortic aspect, or perpendicular to the valve, to facilitate complete characterization of the opening and closing motion during testing. To accommodate either surgically implanted or percutaneous valves, the VDT-3100 allows either rigid conduits or silicone mock vessels to be implemented during testing to fixture the test samples. Finally, the BDC system has control of the individual test stations to help provide uniform loading of all the samples.
