Product Quality

All of BDC Labs silicone mock vessels are certified prior to shipment using methods based on ISO 7198 guidelines to ensure that our mock arteries meet the appropriate specifications for compliance and pressure for use with validation and verification device testing, product demonstrations, or marketing & sales activities.

Our mock arteries are constructed from a clear silicone material to allow for imaging during durability testing, simulated use testing, and other research and development activities. The material for our mock vessels has been chosen to optimize the critical parameters ensuring consistency and reliability throughout their life-time.

Product Certification

All mock arteries built by BDC Labs are qualified prior to shipment and a certificate of compliance accompanies each vessel. We utilize both volumetric and diametric test methods based on ISO 7198 to achieve the most accurate measure of compliance and diameter for each finished product. Our compliance test system was initially developed by Dr. Steven Weinberg in the early 1990’s. Since then, the system has continuously evolved to meet the increasing complexity of mock artery designs and requirements. BDC’s manufacturing processes are based on scientifically establish techniques to ensure that a mock artery meets the clients desired specifications for geometries, diameters, properties, and compliance.

When an order is placed with BDC, the mock artery is built to your specifications. Diameters, diametric compliance and other key parameters are all qualified at the appropriate conditions. Based on the clients’ needs, the diametric (radial) compliance can be measured on the main body as well as any branch segment(s). In addition, qualification can be performed at physiologic 1.2 Hz or any other test frequency up to 80 Hz and at any pulse pressure (e.g. 160 mm Hg / 80 mm Hg). During qualification, the systolic, mean and diastolic diameters are determined at the test pressure and frequency to verify adherence to specifications.
